The Clark Center Blanketeers recently made several blankets for us to give to children who need our help. These blankets help to comfort a child in what can be a scary event. When we have young patients, we also give them a small stuffed animal and stickers; hoping to make the ambulance ride a good memory.

Here are a couple comments made by the parents of children who received the blankets:

"My grandson was bitten by a rabid racoon a couple of weeks ago. He was given a Project Linus blanket on the ambulance - and my son said it was pretty amazing how much of a calming effect the blanket had during a stressful situation and how attached he has become to it!!"

"My brief story - Thanksgiving 2010 my son, who was 2 years old at the time, cut his arm pretty badly while we were at my parent's house for the holidays. The Ironsides Rescue Squad was fabulous and while we were at LaPlata hospital my son was given a Project Linus quilt. The gift was so touching that the memory still brings tears to my eyes. We were lucky that his injury only resulted in some stitches and a nasty scar. I can only imagine the impact of these quilt gifts in a more drastic situation. Thank you so much for all that you do! I am a novice quilt maker but would like to make a quilt to donate to the program. I live in Anne Arundel County but would like to make my contribution to the Charles County Chapter since my son received his gift there and I was raised in Charles County (my folks still live there). Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. And thanks again for all that you do! It means so much to the children and their families!"
